Support Groups

A diagnosis of cancer may leave you feeling shocked and bewildered. There are many people who understand and who can help you - you don't need to struggle alone.

Support groups are usually self-help groups for people affected by cancer to share feelings and gain mutual support. They offer a range of services, such as meetings, telephone helplines, drop-in centres, home visiting, information and practical help. Some have complementary therapists or provide information about therapies.

Use the downloadable list to find a group in your area. Groups vary, so if one does not suit you, try another. You do not have to join, or go to meetings. Most groups offer individual support to those who ask for it.

Each organisation has provided its own details for the list. We therefore advise you to call the respective organisation for venues, times, or any other information you require.

Members of the LJMC also help run a support group specifically for men who have been treated for Prostate Cancer.

The LJMC also hosts the Head & Neck Cancer Support Group.
