Moving on from Head & Neck Cancer
A two-day self-help workshop for patients and their partners/carers.
An opportunity to:
- hear presentations by head and neck cancer specialists including consultants, a head & neck nurse specialist, speech & language therapist, dietician and lymphoedema nurse
- explore issues relating to coping, adjustment and relationships, getting information and finding help
- share your experience with other people affected by head & neck cancer
- get answers to questions about treatments and possible side-effects, the purpose of follow-ups, the role of the scan, signs and symptoms
- receive practical advice on issues such as swallowing, communicatoin, nutrition, managing anxiety and loneliness following treatment
- and much more

Each session will involve a presentation by a professional in the field, followed by time for questions and discussion.
There will be breaks for refreshments between sessions. Lunch is also provided.
This workshop is run by the Head & Neck team at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. It is open to anyone affected by head and neck cancer, including carers.
The workshop is held on two consecutive Mondays from 10.00am - 3.00pm. Forthcoming dates:
- 7th & 14th February 2011
- 13th & 20th June 2011
- 24th & 31st October 2011
The workshop is free of charge. Transport can be arranged.
