Sometimes, unless you ask for help, people may assume you are managing on your own. We all need help now and then so don't be afraid to ask - it could make all the difference to you.

As well as the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre itself, there are many sources of help, some of which are listed below.

Community Cancer Centre

Cancer support and information Drop-in centre for patients living in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Complementary therapies available.

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care

Cancer support and information centre for patients, their family and carers. Home befriending in North London area. Complementary therapies.

Cancerbackup

Cancer information service for patients, families and friends. Produces booklets and factsheets on cancer, its treatments and emotional issues. Some information available in other languages.

Cancer Black Care

Drop-in centre and telephone support available for people with all types of cancer. Monthly support group meetings. There is a network of patient contacts. Outreach services in Harrow.

Cancer Research UK

Confidential support regarding cancer treatment and clinical trials and any questions about cancer. Funds research into the prevention, treatment and cure of all forms of cancer.

Crossroads - Caring for Carers

Service to support carers. Over 210 attendant schemes throughout the UK. There is usually a small charge.

Grove House

Confidential telephone helpline and drop-in centre for people concered about or affected by cancer. Services available for St Albans/district and Dacorum.

Macmillan Cancer Support

National charity providing expert care and practical and emotional support to people living with cancer. Services are free, confidential and available to anyone. Financial help may be available to some cancer patients; ask your Macmillan team for details.

Mount Vernon Cancer Network

A library of information on all aspects of cancer and its treatments.

Support Groups

Provide support and an opportunity to meet others. For people with cancer, their partners, family and friends. Activities vary and can include information, meetings, telephone helplines, home or hospital visiting. There are a number of specific support groups in our catchment area.
